What is clubhouse?
In short, Clubhouse is an audio social media. So basically you can jump in conversations, panels, or just chit chats with people from all around the world. You can even create your own topic or “club” and shot your own discussions.
You can listen or you can even decide to participate and throw your 2 cents in the conversation.
How do I get on Clubhouse?
So yes unfortunately the app is still invite only and only on iPhone. Which I believe is a well thought-out strategy to increase your level of FOMO. Plus, you probably heard it through the grapevine or most likely from Opra, Drake or even Kevin Hart that are some of the celebrities already on Clubhouse. So how do you get invited? Chances are you might already have a friend or a friend of a friend already no there or you will find forums where people give out invites. Regardless, you should already download the app if it’s not already done and register so you can secure your brand/name. If you really want an invite, feel free to message me and I’ll send you one. Just know that invites are sent to phone numbers so you have to be comfortable sharing it…well with me 😉
How do you benefit from Clubhouse?
As a business owner, it’s always about how you get your business out there. You may have a Twitter already, then eventually you got a Facebook because you heard you needed one, Instagram as well because hey you heard it’s great, etc, etc. So why adding yet anther social media to your marketing arsenal?
Well, first, you may have heard of podcasts…there’s a reason why podcasts are increasingly popular. Podcasts are simply the new radio and your phone the new television. People can listen to podcasts everywhere, anywhere on their time. If you have something interesting to say, podcasts are a great way t get your message out there. And you do have something to say, may be you just don’t know yet, but no matter what your business is, whether you have a product or a service to sell, there’s someone out there interested in knowing about it or your knowledge about it, therefore building your relevance and increasing your brand awareness.
Clubhouse is like a live version of a podcast where you can interact live with the content being made. If you’re a listener you can simply consume the content and get great value from a lot of people on whatever topic that is relevant to you and if you’re producing the content you get live feedback from your audience.
First of all, Clubhouse is super easy to use. You can get fancy with your audio but you really only need your phone. Podcasts require a little more things to exist and if you’re not super tech savvy can be a little overwhelming. With Clubhouse, you don’t even need to shower anymore 😉 There’s absolutely no video, no text, no direct messages…it’s live in the moment. Also important to notice that nothing is being recorded. Although you could record if you really want to but that might be against their TOS…but that’s a completely different topic.
Being a early adopter of a new social media is like an investment. If it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stand out on the very popular social networks, being one of the few on a new one can help you if that network becomes really popular. Which means more opportunities for you in the near future. At least getting on early will help you learn. Learn how it works, what people are doing, finding ideas may be and overall get familiarized with the new app.
If you are a coach, a consultant, if you want to create a community, if you’re looking for networking opportunities, this is an app for you.
I don’t want to go into details on how the app actually work but this is probably the best article I found so far that explain everything you need to do on how to get started with Clubhouse: https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubhouse-app-how-to-get-started/
